WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly two-thirds of portable navigation device (PND) owners have experienced a problem, yet 95 percent still say that their device meets or exceeds their expectations, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Portable Navigation Device Usage and Satisfaction Study(SM) released today. The inaugural study measures customer satisfaction with automotive portable navigation devices by examining six factors: ease of use, routing, system appearance, speed of system, voice directions and navigation display screen. Consumers report the highest levels of satisfaction for the overall appearance and voice directions, while system speed receives the lowest satisfaction ratings. The study finds that the incidence of problems among portable navigation device owners is particularly high at 255 problems per 100 (PP100) units.

Among the tales of depravity and violence that dominate this year's Academy Awards race sits the bright and shining Ratatouille. A rat never seemed so sanitized. The Pixar film landed five Oscar nominations and was ranked by many critics as one of the year's best yet was never a serious contender for best picture. Instead, it was relegated to the relatively new category of best animated feature, which the academy began doling out in 2002. I had an Apple 2e and a Mac through grad school but had to go to Windows 3.x and thereafter to integrate with work PCs. Such is life for most people. Mac snobs were simply people who never, for whatever very happy or very sad reason, had to coordinate home work with a PC work computer. File translation between Mac and Windows was a joke for all but the simplest files. Since Mac's move to Intel (something some Mac snobs knew better about) and real dual OS computing power, it's now become practical to own a dual boot Mac at home to do Windows for work.
