| Can You Dig It? Five Things To Know About The Shaq Deal
Said Kerr: "[O'Neal's] presence is magnetic and that is a big part of it." 2. Mike D'Antoni was the first Suns voter to push for the deal and Kerr was actually the last one to sign off. This will be recorded as Kerr's first major move since assuming control of the Suns' front office and maybe the biggest trade he'll ever make. He knows he's "on the line" with how it turns out. "If it works, I'm a genius," Kerr said. "If it doesn't, I'm a moron, I guess." Maybe that's why Kerr was the hardest to convince. It was easy to assume that this deal was somewhat forced on D'Antoni; welcoming Shaq could be saying goodbye to a fair bit of the speed and abandon that has defined the Suns since D'Antoni and Nash hooked up for the 2004-05 season.
Israel Sex Festival Sextival Penetrates Tel Aviv
Hanger 11 in the northern Tel Aviv port can now boast the proud record for having the most vibrating plastic dildos in one place in the Middle East. For many the soft, skin like rocket shaped devices, oils, candles and live erotic shows spelled relief for the enlightened citizens of this tiny Jewish nation. A free and tolerant democracy which lives under the constant and lethal threat of more deadly shaped rockets from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria. The three day sex festival known as Sextival began as chilly, winter weather embraced those who approached Hanger 11, an old customs building and warehouse now turned into a huge special event hall. Passing by the many elegant and exclusive restaurants, stylish clothing stores, jazz clubs and stray cats on the boardwalk one had a sense of being out of place going to a "sex festival" in Tel Aviv, Israel.

As immigration peaked as a political issue last year and local governments began to adopt a variety of restrictive measures, a number of economic commentators (myself included) noted that this was a dangerous policy to pursue given a weakening economy. Policies which drove immigrants away from restrictionist areas not only cut off the commercial business provided by those populations but also undermined housing markets. Even where immigrant households were not primarily homeowners, their presence in the market as tenants helped support overall housing demand and provided needed cash flows to landlords struggling to pay mortgages. With a housing-led downturn taking shape, immigrant departure seemed potentially disastrous. But one has to wonder whether that's the proper causation.

US Consumers Oblivious to GM Food Fears
Concerns over genetically modified foods have failed to make much impact in the United States, where consumers and the US media are less fired up about the issue than in Europe, activists say. Dr Michael Hansen, a biologist with the major New York-based Consumers Union, says the media doesn't talk about GM issues and there is more apathy in the US. "When the public is asked in the survey, a high percentage wants food labels," he said. "They just don't realize the extent to which certain food such as corn or soybean are genetically engineered, and often they have not heard of any of these food safety concerns." On Friday, French President Nicolas Sarkozy banned the only genetically modified crop grown in France, the Mon 810 maize produced by the US agriculture giant Monsanto.
